Capitalism swung a razor sharp axe at the tiny village of Smooth Rock Falls April 24th as 230 Employees were told by pulp mill owner Tembec, that the operations in the small community will close indefinately on July 31, 2006. The days, of course, are numbered for Tembec's Smooth Rock switching contractor Canac as well. Seen here on a sunny April 29th, all is quiet at the mill as SW1200 1518 and a Canac Trackmobile (used as a spare unit) sit on their storage track ready to be hauled into service.
