Today was a day for ballast work at Cochrane Yard. August 16th's photo features an ONR Ballast Regulator hard at it on the Main eliminating excess ballast in a cloud of dust and flying rock with it's huge wire brushed sweeper. About 300 feet north of this machine a Tamper is hard at work shoving the newly dumped rock under the ties and rail of the Mainline.
