Well, I initially thought this was going to be March 25's pic, but due to billing problems CN 9626 spent the night at Hearst. It finally got rolling today from Hearst on 516, switched over to 514 at Kapuskasing and arrived at Cochrane at 3:30pm today. The unit will be heading to Smooth Rock Falls Saturday on 313. This unit will be handling all switching at Tembec's Smooth Rock Falls Pulp Mill and running loads and empties up the ol' Mattagami Railroad trackage (which is owned by Tembec) beginning April 1.
The GP40-2W will eventually be replaced by a smaller switcher from Canac. This night photo of 9626 was snapped at Cochrane Shops tonight as the unit patiently awaits tomorrow's trip west. Look carefully and you'll see 1603 coupled up behind it.
