FEATURED "PIC OF THE DAY" OCTOBER 1, 2017
On September 30th, I had an opportunity to meet up with Train #901 Work 2202 at Porquis Junction. The special train was in the process of testing Ontario Northland main line trackage from one end of the system to the other. Debuting on the ONR this fall is CN Engineering's Track Assessment System Car 1057 (named "Daphne" after CN CEO Claude Mongeau's daughter when the car was transformed into a test car back in 2014), and DGRMS test car 414842. The "Daphne" and the Deployable Guage Restraint Measurement System (DGRMS) test car ahead of it are literally capable of checking everything from ties to rail wear, from guage measuring to spikes and much, much more. Since this testing set is debuting this year, I got Rod, Craig, and Mitch from ONR to give us a smile from the open deck of this great looking car while everybody took a break to stretch their legs before testing the Devonshire Sub.
