FEATURED "PIC OF THE DAY" JUNE 13, 2015
Here we see what those spindles are feeding as it slowly moves past mile 83 of the Ramore Subdivision June 13th. This is called a "Railroad Mounted Cable Plow" and belongs to Henkels & McCoy of Blue Bell Pennsylvania. The plow has huge blades on each side that literally cut into the ground while at the same time feeding cables, tubing or whatever you need. The plow isn't self-propelled, so SD40-2 1734 with an ONR crew aboard slowly pulls the consist along as needed while staying in constant contact with the Henkels & McCoy crew at all times. A rail-rubber tire excavator scoots along behind making sure the roadbed that was plowed remains up to standards.
