FEATURED "PIC OF THE DAY" MARCH 19, 2014
We're at Porquis Junction as Glen, Donald, and Craig haul southbound 308 through to Englehart from Kidd with 2 SD40-2's (1735 & 1730) on point March 19th. Over the last couple of years, railway traffic has been able to proceed to either the Ramore or Devonshire Subdivisions at Porquis without the need of stopping to line the junction switch thanks to the remote control switch seen here. It's a General Electric switch and is operated by entering codes over the radios. As you can see, the L.E.D. light reads yellow meaning that the track is lined for the Ramore Sub. Also, you can see a Condor T2000 blower (that aluminum box) installed to keep the switch points clear of snow and ice. Thanks to Roadmaster Kevin Lehman for some of the background of the remote control switch system.
