FEATURED "PIC OF THE DAY" FEBRUARY 22, 2015
We're at Cochrane Yard on a very cold February 22nd as we catch up with Machine Operator Roger and his helper aboard snowfighter 49-1931. After routine testing of the snowfighter is completed but just before obtaining the necessary protection from their Island Falls Subdivision Section Foreman before leaving, we get to see how Roger and his helper turn their snowfighter in order for it to point north. A hydraulic lifting mechanism is lowered from the bottom of the snowfighter planting itself in between the rails and lifts the machine clear of the tops of the rails. Under it's own power (utilizing the wings) and with some assistance from the Helper, the snowfighter is completely spun around and pointed in the proper direction. The hydraulic lift then lowers the machine and away they go. Who says you don't learn something new every day?
