FEATURED "PIC OF THE DAY" DECEMBER 9, 2014
There was some other railway business happening aside from the Christmas Train's visit to Cochrane. Here we see Infrastructure Department's rider car 1873 which has been totally wired up to receive data from 3 84 foot auto racks for the National Research Council of Canada. Also on board 1873 are staff of NRC. Ontario Northland was hired to assist the NRC by running a special train from North Bay to Cochrane and return so the NRC could collect important data on suspension systems of auto racks. Here we catch 1873 as the rider's oil tank is being refilled for the heaters after just arriving from North Bay December 9th. The special consist included SD40-2 1735, rider 1873, and auto racks TTGX 995507, NKCR 6796, & TTGX 160979.
