FEATURED "PIC OF THE DAY" SEPTEMBER 5, 2014
We're along the Rip Track at Cochrane Shops on September 5th where the operative word for the next while is "decking". Ontario Northland's wooden decked 100300 series flat cars are used constantly to ship a wide variety of loads between Cochrane and Moosonee. The wooden decks allow for plenty of nailing of blocking which is part of securing the car's load. The decks are made of pine so they're easy to nail into, but they do have to be replaced occasionally when the deck wears out after the stresses of tons of weight and hard weather. Today's Rip Crew (from the left Rick, Marc, and Craig) are in the process of replacing the decking on 4 100300 series flats and take a moment to smile for a photo.
