FEATURED "PIC OF THE DAY" AUGUST 8, 2014
The time has come to bid a fond farewell to yet another "Chevronized" piece of Ontario Northland history. The unit is GP9 1600 and belongs to Resolute Forest Products' Iroquois Falls Newsprint Mill. Although Ontario Northland hasn't owned it for quite some time, the Chevron paint scheme always stayed as a reminder of her original owner. Here we see GP9 1600 moments away from being lifted by northbound 213 on August 8th. It will then be brought to Cochrane where it will head to Hearst the following Sunday. Once in Hearst it will be handed over to CN for the trip to Diesel Electric Services (DESX) in Sudbury. It has been reported on August 14th that 1600 has indeed been sold to Diesel Electric Services and won't be returning to Iroquois Falls. A big shout out to James Lalande and Norm Deschaines!
