FEATURED "PIC OF THE DAY" MARCH 25, 2014.
It has been talked about for months and everyone had an opinion as to whether or not she would survive the loading process. Well, the day arrived on March 25th as Temiskaming & Northern Ontario 4-6-0 219 would be pulled and loaded onto a customized CN flat car. This would be the first important step the steamer would have to take before being moved to her new home at the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre in Capreol, Ontario. Here, Cochrane Car Man Darin captures the unit in mid-pull up a specially built ramp. You can see the cable doing the pulling which is attached to a winch of a Caterpillar D6 bulldozer. Witnesses to the loading process all say that the entire process went safely, smoothly, and efficiently even though the snow was coming down quite substantially during the loading. The folks loading the 219 are from Railtran Services Inc. with assistance provided by Ontario Northland.
