FEATURED "PIC OF THE DAY" DECEMBER 1, 2013
Now here is something you don't see every day! We're at Clute (mile 9.8 of the Island Falls Subdivision) on a cold November 29th. A bridge project has been underway recently at mile 11.4 by ONR's Infrastructure Department. With no road access to 11.4, all equipment must be set on the rails at mile 9.8 (the closest level crossing) to access the bridge. When it comes to pouring concrete, the same thing must happen. This was a first for me as a Ford L9000 belonging to Custom Concrete rolls up to the crossing completely set up with hi-rail equipment. With the assistance of the local Foreman, the cement mixer is set on the rails and is pictured here as the truck proceeds to back up the almost 2 miles to the bridge in order to dump it's load.
