FEATURED "PIC OF THE DAY" JULY 25, 2013

On July 23rd under a dark sky, a steady flow of rain, and a chilly north wind, classic Temiskaming & Northern Ontario 4-6-0 219 was very slowly rolled out of Cochrane's north yard 1 track. Under the watchful eyes of the yard crew, the manager of train operations, car men, and the local section, 219 was moved to the yard's scale track in order to be weighed. After the move to the scales, the steamer (with still a half load of coal in her tender) weighed in at 198150 lbs. That works out to approximately 85 tons. The unit was purchased by the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum & Heritage Centre in Capreol, Ontario in 2012. There is no news thus far as to how the museum plans to ship the 219.
