With North Bay's historic (and still functioning) turntable in the foreground, classic ONR SD40-2's 1736 and 1731 reflect the rays of the setting sun as they sit between the Locomotive and Car Shops May 2005. If you look carefully, you'll see white coverings on the exhausts of the units which pretty much tell you that these units didn't get here under their own power.

Little did anyone know (including myself) that these 2 3000 hp units which were once the "creme de la creme" of the motive power pool were later actually sold to a firm known as Progress Rail Services with "PURX" AAR reporting marks. The two units left North Bay for the last time in October 2005.
