When you follow the Kapuskasing Subdivision between the mileages of 91 (Opasatika) and 129 (Hearst), you are going to come across this very large monument located at mile 101. This monument pays homage to three workers who lost their lives during the historic Reesor Siding Incident of February 11th, 1963. It was here that a labour dispute between the Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union and the Spruce Falls Power & Paper Company of Kapuskasing turned bloody after a gunfight erupted between Strikers, Contractors, and Police in the early morning hours of that very dark day.
