In today's Railroading operations, weeds are considered bad. Very bad. These innocent looking wildflowers and blades of grass are capable of causing damage to road bed & ties and obstruct the views of Employees from spotting potential hazards along the right of way which could seriously injure someone trying to step off of a moving train.
This is where Hi-Rail Weed Spraying Companies come into the picture. We're at Cochrane Yard July 2005 as 2 trucks from a Weed Spraying Contractor roll into the Yard after spraying the Devonshire Subdivision. In the background, you can see the second spray truck, with a Maintenance Of Way Foreman supervising in his Hi-Rail pick up, emitting weed killing chemicals to the area between the Yards "CN 1" and "Tache" tracks.
