This is a view of one of the Tavern/Lounge Car "Manhattan's" Lounge Sections. This area is ideal for socializing or for handling important business meetings. This car was built by the Budd Car Company in 1947 for the New York Central. As you can see, the effective use of the wood grained walls, stainless steel trim, and plush upholstery made this car a true gem during the glory days of passenger rail travel. The "Manhattan" is photographed June 2005 at Cochrane Yard.
