ONR's entry into the Domed Passenger Train market evolved a little more in May 2005 with former BC Rail Full Length Dome Car "Stardust" obtaining both a name change and a new millenium "ON Rail" paint job. The "Otter Rapids" name was chosen to pay homage to the half way point of the Subdivision that this car principally serves. Long ago, Polar Bear Express passengers momentarily detrained at Otter Rapids in order to view the huge Power Dam located there. Although the Polar Bear Express no longer stops there, Otter still serves as a significant spot for the Excursion as the mid trip check (also known as a PK) is performed by the tail end crew there.
