The following photos are some of the first photos I've ever taken. As a kid, I visited Cochrane Yard (and other yards) with my parent's little 126 camera with big aspirations of producing photographs just like the photos I've seen in those big Railroad magazines like "Railfan" and "Trains". I realised as I grew up that professional photographers don't use little 126 cameras (duh), and learned that there's alot of factors that go in to creating the "perfect photo". Although the following "80's" pics aren't of the best quality, the historical value makes these photos a real treasure for me. So, sit back and let's journey back in time to the ONR of the 80's. Enjoy.

The year is 2000. I'm now at the ripe old age of 32. After 12 or so years of living in Sudbury, Ontario, I finally find myself back at my old "home away from home". A few things have changed at Cochrane Yard. A few new faces, a few new paint jobs, and one heck of a Station renovation. I graduated from my good ol' Kodak 126 to 35mm cameras, and I now return home a little older and alot wiser. I rekindled alot of old friendships and made alot of new ones and I for one am very happy to be back home. Below are some photos I've taken in 2000 documenting what has changed (and in some cases hasn't changed) in Cochrane Yard over the years.

2001 was another busy year for ONR. Some highlights included Politicians and Unions preparing to battle the Ontario Government's plans of selling the ONTC to the private sector which included a special train running from Hearst to Queen's Park called the "Survival Express". Ontario Northland paints up their first 1600 series GP9 in the new 'futuristic' O.N. Rail paint with the honors being given to a newly rebuilt 1603. 414 derails at Cochrane Shops resulting in the relocation of the Shops' "Runaround" further away from the main building. And everyone in Cochrane pulls together to give a newly founded group of Railfans called the Ontario Northland Railway Historical & Technical Society a great day long itinerary for the society's first ever Convention.
