As winter envelops the northland with frigid winds and feet of snow, folks like DeBeers need to take advantage of the sub-zero temperatures in order to haul supplies to their Victor Diamond Mine at Attawapiskat. It's at this time of year where you will see many tank cars, shipping containers, and dimensional loads making their way through Cochrane on their way to Moosonee to be off-loaded for the ice road journey to the mine. Here's one load spotted at Cochrane in early February. ONR bulkhead flat 4505, with some adapting done to it, is utilized to haul 4 small buildings to Moosonee for DeBeers. The buildings will then be trans-loaded to trucks for the remainder of the journey.
