2003 turned out to be the year that the dangers of railroading hit home
for myself and a lot of other people. Veteran Trainman and Friend Frayne
Church lost his life on the job this year. You never realise how close
knit a workplace can be until tragedy happens, and it was that very day
that I learned Ontario Northland is nothing without being "Powered by
the People". Other happenings in 2003 included the introduction of the
"Kitty Cat", digital cameras begin entering the realm of onrgallery.com,
ONR purchases former Southern Pacific hydra cushion box cars for Express
Freight hauling, and ONR plays the roll of "School Bus" during the
Latchford bridge collapse.
